Sometimes a meal doesn’t satisfy our hunger enough. It could lack protein, fiber, or fat. According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, these are the nutrients necessary for a meal to fuel your energy. We compiled a list of filling foods that can be eaten solo or with another dish that will leave your hunger satisfied:
- Raw Almonds
This snack can be eaten alone or dropped in a smoothie for added protein. It also contains fiber and healthy fats. Overall, a beneficial munch or additive.
- Boiled Eggs
A fulfilling breakfast delight! Eggs are packed with protein and antioxidants. This means you can satisfy your hunger and lower disease risks.
- Baked Salmon
This quick dinner entrée became a hyped healthy option in the past couple of years – for good reason. It’s rich in omega-3 and protein which are key sources to energy and help reduce heart disease. Although a small size may trick the eyes, it is enough to settle the stomach.
- Cascadian Farm cereal
One of the few cereal options that does not correlate to candy. This product can be found on most known grocery shelves. Fiber, whole grain, and less sugar come in each box which is good news for the body! Plus, it tastes even better.
- Boxed Kraft Mac and Cheese
Cheat day! (If you’re into that stuff) The nutritional impact in a serving may not equate to other healthier options, but it gets the job done. One box of this can silence the drums in your belly.
- Baked Sweet Potato
A favorite of mine, but takes a while to cook. This particular potato doesn’t need any extra toppings or seasoning because of it’s sweet flare. Fiber and antioxidants exude from these inner orange vegetables.
- Beans (black, kidney, country baked, etc.)
Protein, fiber, and plenty more nutrients are packed in a can. It can be baked, boiled, or eaten straight out of the metal. Best believe it will fill you.
- Popcorn
Quick fix! It takes two or three minutes to make, or can be bought already made. As constantly mentioned, fibers and antioxidants are also a source in this food. Luckily, the lightness of this snack holds down the hunger.
- Smoothie King’s Daily Warrior
This is not sponsored, but it is a certified meal replacement. This particular drink on the menu is infused with peanut butter, dates, almonds, spinach and a couple of fruits. It’s as delicious as it sounds and conquers a craving at any time.
